Mumbai: The Spanish Talgo train completed its final trail run between Delhi and Mumbai today.
The train decreased the minimum travelling time by four hours as Rajdhani express takes 15 hours and 50 minutes at a speed of 130kmph to cover the same distance between the same destinations. Traversing the 1,384 km stretch between New Delhi and Mumbai, the train – travelling at a speed of 140 km per hour – reached at 3.15 am instead of scheduled arrival at 2.57 am. Talgo aims to reduce travel time between the two cities by four hours. The train consists of nine coaches including two executive class cars, four chair cars, a cafeteria, a power auto and a tail-end coach for staff and equipment.
In July 2015, Talgo had approached the Indian Railways with a proposal to build the fastest train using light weight coaches. The speciality of the coaches is that they can hit 200 km per hour and have a natural tilting mechanism which allows them to be dragged on curves at a faster speed than other Indian coaches..
The high speed Talgo trains have been under-going trials since May.

After the Bareilly and Moradabad route trial, the train was test-run on the route between Mathura and Palwal for around 40 days with speed up to 180 km per hour.
