Numerous kidnapping incidents have taken place in northern Afghanistan following a major kidnapping incident that took place late last month in northern Kunduz province.

According to Mohammad Ismail, a district police chief in Helmand, the attack happened in Gareshk district.

Two of the seven injured security guards, who were injured in a suicide attack in Afghanistan on Monday, have been airlifted to New Delhi of India for treatment on Tuesday.

“Those who are innocent will be released but those who are working for the slave administration of Kabul’s security organs will be submitted to the Islamic Emirate’s courts”, he said, using the term the Taliban use to describe themselves.

The Taliban militants have stepped up hostage takings across the country during the recent weeks as the group claim they abduct security personnel and government officials traveling in the highways.

Highways around Afghanistan passing through insurgency-prone areas have become exceedingly unsafe, with the Taliban and other armed groups frequently kidnapping or killing travellers.

He said that Nepal will take a decision whether to stop granting permission for foreign employment in Afghanistan after probing the incident and analysing the findings.
