Talks at ‘zero’ regarding 49ers trading Colin Kapernick to Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos executive vice president of football operations moved up five spots to select Memphis junior quarterback Paxton Lynch with the 26th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft on Thursday.

With the selection of Lynch, it’s easy to speculate that the Broncos are no longer interested in acquiring Colin Kaepernick from the 49ers, nor will they be entertaining a trade for Sam Bradford, either.
It’s nearly as certain that Memphis’s Paxton Lynch will be the third quarterback taken, though it’s unclear if he lands in the top 10 or the latter half of the first round. And Lynch indeed was the third quarterback off the board after Cal’s Jared Goff went No. 1 to the Los Angeles Rams, followed one pick later by North Dakota’s Carson Wentz to the Philadelphia Eagles.
The 6-foot-7 Lynch, played quarterback for the Deltona Trinity Christian Academy Eagles before enrolling at Memphis and becoming the signal caller.
Lynch goes to an organization that affords him great leadership in GM John Elway and Head Coach Gary Kubiak, outstanding receivers and a top rated defense. “Like I said, I’m excited to spend a lot of time here and be around this coaching staff and all these players”.
Out of all 32 National Football League locations that Paxton Lynch could have ended up in, I believe Denver is one of the best, if not the best place for Lynch to start his National Football League career. Dallas took blockers in the first round three times in a span of four seasons starting in 2011.
As the only remaining quarterback from the Broncos’ Super Bowl champion team – Siemian was the No. 3 quarterback behind Peyton Manning and Brock Osweiler – the second-year pro already has been helping Sanchez learn Kubiak’s playbook.
“We’re thrilled that Paxton Lynch is going to be a Bronco”, Elway tweeted shortly after the pick was announced.
“They’re all going to compete. There are some good quarterbacks on the roster right now and I know there will be good competition between all of us”. We’ll stay open to everything.
General Manager John Elway said, “Yeah, we’re probably over with Kaepernick”.
The Broncos are still considered contenders for next year’s Super Bowl with most of their offensive and defensive line still intact.
