Talks broken off with U.S. for “violations” of nuclear deal

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Monday said the U.S. was not trustable as, according to him, Washington failed to fulfil its obligations over the nuclear deal titled “Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action”.

He also said the United States had offered to negotiate with Iran on regional issues – the two countries share an interest in fighting the militant group Daesh in Iraq and Syria – but that the negative experience on the nuclear deal showed that this would be like taking a “deadly poison”.

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei gave his blessing to the nuclear deal signed with six world powers in January, but his regular criticism of its implementation has allowed hardliners to clip President Hassan Rouhani’s wings as he tries to build on parliamentary gains for his moderate allies and secure re-election next year.

“Weren’t the supposed sanctions lifted to change the life of the people?”

In an interview with Fox News Sunday night, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton stressed that as secretary of state she had helped delay Iran’s attainment of a nuclear weapon “without a single shot fired”.

“The deal is a comprehensive collection and if the United States does not fully implement it, we will respond”, he said without detailing the USA “failures” to meet its obligations.

Elsewhere, Rouhani said Iran is a pillar of stability in the region and is influential in the stability of its neighboring countries.

Ayatollah Khamenei went on to say that negotiation with the United States government would entail deviation from the road to progress, making successive concessions and bowing to the language of force and violation of commitments.

A main complaint with the U.S.is that it is scaring foreign investors off entering into partnership with Iranian partners.

Khamenei claimed that two years ago, his government was going to use the nuclear negotiations as a litmus test for future talks, and the results of the deal six months after its implementation prove the USA can not be trusted.

The U.S. -based company Boeing Co. signed a deal with Tehran involving dozens of planes and worth as much as $25 billion. But the agreement has been criticized by both republican and democratic politicians. The Ayatollah has also taken issue with a recent visit of Saudi nationals to Israel, which he has labeled as treasonous to other Islamic nations.

“The Saudi government is follower, possessed by and subservient to the American government”, he claimed.
