CLEVELAND (AP) Protesters upset by a decision not to indict police officers in the fatal shooting of 12-year-old Tamir Rice are continuing their call for the Cleveland prosecutor to step down.
News reported protesters have been calling for Tim McGinty’s resignation since the announcement earlier this week.
March organizers told participants not to vandalize McGinty’s house.
Demonstrators did leave flowers near McGinty’s home. He claimed it was “indisputable” that Rice, who had been holding a pellet gun, had been drawing the toy from his waistband when police shot him.

Several protesters laid down on the sidewalk outside of McGinty’s home for four minutes – the length of time it took for first responders to reach Rice after he was shot.
Rice’s family members said they were saddened but unsurprised by the grand jury’s decision not to indict Loehmann. “They personally see, hear and question witnesses, and they reach a decision based on their oath”.
“It has been clear for months now that Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Timothy McGinty was abusing and manipulating the grand jury process to orchestrate a vote against indictment”, the statement said.
Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson and Police Chief Calvin Williams will hold a press conference this afternoon to talk about this week’s events regarding the Tamir Rice case.

McGinty said police radio personnel contributed to the tragedy by failing to pass along the “all-important fact” that a 911 caller said the gunman was probably a juvenile and the gun probably wasn’t real.
