“Constructing a brand-new fiber community is a big job”, Google Fiber’s Jill Szuchmacher, director of expansion, wrote in its latest blog.

Similar to the work it started in Irvine, Calif., Louisville, Ky., and San Diego, Google Fiber said these cities are good candidates as they all have a number of new small businesses popping up. Google threw Kansas City viewers another curve ball Tuesday night when its ultra-fast Internet and TV service went down during the first game of the World Series. Mayor Lenny Curry and Google announced Wednesday that the city is one of three cities being looked at for an expansion of Google Fiber. We’ve had ongoing conversations with Google since 2012 and today we are moving forward with a game-changing opportunity to enhance broadband access in Oklahoma City – both in terms of speed and access, said Cornett. That’s of course on top of existing Provo, Kansas City and Austin live markets, and currently-underway builds in San Antonio, Salt Lake City, Raleigh/Durham, Nashville, Atlanta, and Charlotte.
