Taran Killam will play Donald Trump on ‘Saturday Night Live’
Hopefully he’ll live up to the high bar set by Darrell Hammond.

OK, that’s an exaggeration.
Saturday Night Live has picked cast member Taran Killam to play Donald Trump during this election season.
I hear several current cast members auditioned for the role, which went to Killam. And though Hammond left SNL in 2009 after a record 14 seasons, that hasn’t stopped him from making frequent guest appearances.
Of course, given the summer Trump has had – it’s hard to believe he announced his candidacy just three months ago – we’re assuming the new season will kick off with a sketch surrounding the Republican candidate.
“It was confirmed today that Taran Killam is playing Donald Trump, which is fantastic “, McKinnon said on the E! cable channel’s Emmys red carpet show on Sunday.
But Hammond fans shouldn’t despair.

He’s expected to be busy reprising his lip-biting Bill Clinton impression as Bubba’s wife, Hillary Clinton, makes her White House as a Democrat. The 42nd president will likely have a prominent role on SNL this year, given Hillary Clinton’s status as the frontrunner for the Democratic presidential nomination.
