He said that “15 years back, there was violence in Assam when people were killed, mothers and sisters cried, tears flowed, there was bloodbath”.

While terming the BJP as a communal force, the Congress leader maintained that his party only believes in the development plank and prosperity of the poor.
Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi during his “Sadbhavana Yatra” in Barpeta district, Assam, on Saturday. “After defeat in Bihar polls, Bihar is out of the vocabulary of Modi, we will ensure that Assam word is out of his vocabulary”.
Gogoi said that Rahul has come to the state to find the problem faced by the people of the state.
On other hand, the Congress vice president said that, the Congress party is very concerned to implement the Assam Accord which was signed by his father and former Prime minister Rajiv Gandhi. Modi even cut the special category status of the Northeast India.
Gandhi also interacted with a group of women entrepreneurs of the state and addressed his party leaders.
He said that Congress works for “uniting Assam and joining Hindus with Muslims, connecting one Assamese with another”.
“Tarun Gogoi has linked 30 lakh women with bank accounts, put money in their pockets”. As peace is a precondition to development, it will certainly get expedited in the days to come, Gandhi said. Congress gave food security bills, MGNREGA, land to adivasis in tribal belts, farmers’ rights in the land Bill. “Congress was victorious in the (local) elections there”, Gandhi said addressing a meeting of block and district level party leaders here, in the run-up to the 2016 Assam Assembly election. They believe if there is amity between brothers, they can not win elections.

In a statement here, Mr Gogoi said the state government would publish in detail within the current month the slew of development initiatives taken by then Prime Minister Singh as elected MP from Assam.
