Authorities said they are still trying to determine why Farook and his wife attacked the Inland Regional Centre. Farook’s brother-in-law is beginning the legal process to adopt the girl.
Attorneys for Farook’s family urged the public not to rush to judgment.
Attorneys representing Farook’s family said Friday that none of his family members had any indication either he or his wife held extremist views.
“The family is in complete shock”, Abuershaid said.
But FBI Director James Comey told reporters that the bureau’s investigation has not yet shown evidence that the couple were part of a larger group or members of a terror cell. “Just doesn’t make sense, they just didn’t seem like that type of people”.
David Bowdich, assistant director of the FBI’s Los Angeles office, said in Los Angeles on Friday that the shooters attempted to destroy evidence, including crushing two cellphones and discarding them in a trash can. “We aspire to do it quickly”, he said, “but we most of all aspire to do it well and do it carefully”.
United States (US) President Barack Obama, who ordered flags to be flown at half-staff until Monday, said a terror attack could not be ruled out but cautioned against jumping to conclusions.
The couple opened fire at a holiday banquet for Farook’s co-workers before dying in a gunbattle with police Wednesday.
“MSNBC and other news organizations were invited into the home by the landlord after law enforcement officials had finished examining the site and returned control to the landlord”, MSNBC said in a statement. “She was very happy that night”, said Nasima Nila, 31, who attended the reception at the Islamic Center of Riverside. However, it was uncertain whether the comments were posted by Malik herself or someone with access to her page.
Farook and Malik were the suspected perpetrators of the shooting at a San Bernardino social services center that claimed 14 lives and injured 21 others. The Facebook official spoke on condition of anonymity because the person was not allowed under corporate policy to be quoted by name. The company discovered the account Thursday and removed the profile from public view.
Abdollah reported from Washington. Facebook executives confirm Tashfeen Malik, the female suspect, pledged her allegiance to an ISIS leader just as she and her husband launched their attack.
The two officials say the family is originally from the Pakistani town of Karor Lal Esan, about 200 miles southwest of the capital of Islamabad in Punjab province. The maid spoke on condition of anonymity because did not want to jeopardize her employment with the family.
“I don’t know the answer, whether she influenced him or not”.
According to ABC News, Malik was born in Pakistan but moved to Saudi Arabia when she was 4.
Should the investigation prove that the attack was indeed inspired by militant Islamism, it would count as the most serious such attack since September 11, 2001.
“Once we rented the property, we don’t bother people”, Miller said.
Farook told friends he met his future wife online and she was Pakistani. There was a computer screen, but no computer. The two were killed in a shootout with police later that day outside their home. The couple had a 6-month-old daughter.
The FBI announced Friday that it is investigating the mass shooting in Southern California as an act of terrorism, while a us law enforcement official revealed that the woman who helped her husband carry out the attack had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group and its leader on Facebook under an alias.
Two years ago, Tashfeen Malik was a new bride radiating beauty and happiness at a reception for hundreds at a California mosque to celebrate her marriage to Syed Rizwan Farook.
Malik was a Pakistani woman who came to the U.S.in 2014 on a fiancee visa and married Syed Farook in California.
