Tax holiday for school supplies, hurricane preparedness begins Friday

Amazon also will be participating in sales tax holidays for states it is required to collect tax.
Who can shop? Any shopper can take advantage of back-to-school sales, even if they aren’t buying for school-age children. All school supplies $20 or less, any clothing item $75 or less and instructional materials $20 or less.
This year, the Virginia General Assembly decided to combine the three annual sales tax holidays into one that would be scheduled for the beginning of August.
The mall was packed Saturday for the 2015 Louisiana State Sales Tax Holiday. At that rate, the purchase of $200 of tax-free items would result in a savings of $16.75.
Many other questions about the tax holiday can be answered by going to a “Frequently Asked Questions” document posted at the Ohio Department of Taxation’s website.
Parents can pick up everything from notebooks to new jackets tax free.
If you haven’t finished “back to school” shopping yet, you might want to wait until this weekend.
“Time is of the essence, and we’ve got to do it when we can do it”, she said. You can buy an eligible item over the tax-free weekend and exchange it later for the same item in a different size, color, and so on.

“The hurricane tax free weekend is being combined with the back to school weekend”, said Kenneth Ryder, Winchester’s Home Depot Lumber and Building Supervisor. “It’s got to be booming because we’ve never had so many people in the store”. The world’s biggest online retailer began collecting sales tax on items it sells in Tennessee previous year.
