Awards-wise, Swift still has the chance to add a few more trophies to her Grammy haul before the night is through: 1989 is up for Album of the Year, while “Blank Space” is also nominated for Record of the Year and Song of the Year.

The 1989 singer has now collected a grand total of nine Grammy awards in her almost decade long career.

Swift was nominated for seven Grammys for “1989”, the former country prodigy’s transformation into a pop singer that was by far the top-selling album in the United States among those in contention. The 28-year-old rapper wasn’t on hand for his early wins.

Bieber won best dance recording for his collaboration with DJs Skrillex and Diplo for “Where Are U Now“.

West made headlines last week when he incorporated a controversial line about Swift, with whom he had been on good terms, in one of his new songs, “Famous”.

Lamar, who has already won five Grammys at the ceremony, began his performance of The Blacker The Berry in chains and a prison uniform in front of a huge bonfire and ended it in front of a map of his home town Compton in Los Angeles.

“We wrote it on a couch in my house”, he said of his hit song, which also won him best pop solo performance.

While the experimental album also came out too late for this year’s Grammys, composer Maria Schneider won a Grammy for best arrangements for one of the songs, “Sue (Or in a Season of Crime)”.

But Lamar leads the nominations amid acclaim for his experimental rap opus “To Pimp a Butterfly”, a meditative look at the plight of black America in an era of deep concern about police brutality.

Eagles Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit and Bernie Leadon saluted Glenn Frey with a performance of “Take It Easy”, joined by that song’s co-writer, Jackson Browne.

The great bluesman Bubby Guy won best blues album for “Born to Play Guitar”.

Mark Ronson poses with his award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Uptown Funk” backstage at the 58th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles February 15, 2016.

Nothing Has Changed, a collection of the late David Bowie’s music from 1964 to 2014, won a Grammy for best arrangement, instrument and vocals, for Sue (or in a Season of Crime).

The massive success of “Hamilton” earned the Broadway musical a performance spot on the Grammys telecast, the first time the Grammys made room for a Broadway show since 2010. The Weeknd followed with a double-header of “Can’t Feel My Face” and “In the Night” before Andra Day and Ellie Goulding teamed up for another duet mash-up of “Rise Up” and “Love Me Like You Do”.

Adele’s new album “25” is not up for the Album of the Year Grammy tonight as it was not released in time to be eligible for this year’s awards ceremony.

It’s Grammys night, and one artist viewers could wait to see take the stage Monday was the incomparable Adele.

Album of the Year nominees Alabama Shakes won for Best Rock Performance for “I Don’t Want to Fight No More”, with singer Brittany Howard giving a heartfelt acceptance speech.

As his performance transitioned to “Alright”, Lamar metaphorically headed to Africa with dancers in traditional dress moving before a bonfire.
