Kanye West will have free reign over the stage at this weekend’s MTV VMAs and show producers are expecting something big … they just have no idea WHAT it will be. The show will not feature a host this year, following Miley Cyrus’ polarizing stint as M.C. last year, something that has only happened five times in the awards show’s history.

Throughout the year’s the VMA’s have offered the public a spoon full of performances, fashion achievements, the moment’s couples and a lot of controversies like the queen and princess of pop kissing on stage, for example.

All in all this year’s VMA’s promise to be appointment viewing, and we’ll be waiting to see what ‘Ye can do with just four minutes to save the world… In 2009 he famously interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech for Best Female Video and past year, as Swift presented him with the Vanguard, we were treated to a memorable acceptance speech from Ye. If the surprise moment does happen, it will be one of the most talked about things of the night for sure!

Last year West was presented with the Video Vanguard Award (by Taylor Swift) after which he launched into a almost ten-minute rant about fashion, family, bullshit award shows and announced that he would be running for president in 2020.

Mirror Celebs has contacted reps for Taylor Swift for comment. Future, Britney Spears and 2016 Video Vanguard recipient Rihanna are slated to perform during the main event.

Beyonce is the leading nominee with 11, followed by Adele with eight nominations.

The VMAs pre-show airs on Sunday (Aug. 28) at 8 p.m. ET/PT right before the live show goes down at 9 p.m. on MTV.

Additionally, comedians Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, Jay Pharoah and MTV’s Nicole Byer, along with music producer DJ Khaled will serve as special correspondents throughout the night.
