Taylor Swift Turns 26 and Announces Exclusive Streaming Deal With Apple

Swift announced the news via Twitter Sunday, writing, “Thank you so much for all the birthday wishes”. (Yes, that means you’ll be able to re-live all those incredible surprise guests that stopped by on just about every stop.) And, of course, the entire live performance from November 28 will also be featured. Jonas Akerlund is listed as the director of the video in the description of the trailer.

Now it seems that Apple might have landed themselves yet another pretty big exclusive deal and once again, it is with none other than Taylor Swift. This is the sort of exclusivity Apple has been wanting on its Apple Music platform as it’s only available for paying Apple Music subscribers.

Apple Inc.(NASDAQ:AAPL) launched its music streaming service in June 2015. In June, the singer crusaded against Apple Music in a blog post for not planning to pay artists during the service’s three-month free trial period.

Steve Exum Taylor Swift feared Apple would turn off her iPhone during her dispute over Apple Music royalities. In exchange, Apple will make Swift a major part of its marketing plans, with her likeness appearing on store displays and iTunes gift cards.

In the video she reveals that she “wondered what it would be like to perform for 70,000 people… all lit up and dancing around like no one was watching”.

Some of the stars joining Swift on stage during the tour included Mick Jagger, Justin Timberlake, Selena Gomez, John Legend and Mary J. Blige.

Taylor Swift “was struck by this overwhelming sense of fear” right after she published an open letter to Apple on her Tumblr earlier this year. It got more attention than I thought it would because Id been echoing those sentiments for years.

The deal deepens the strategic ties Apple and Swift have developed since the pair had a falling out this summer.
