TBS Greenlights James Corden’s ‘Drop the Mic’ Series
The popular segment “Drop the Mic” from The Late Late Show with James Corden is going to be getting its own spinoff series on TBS. Stars including Anne Hathaway, David Schwimmer, and Kevin Hart have all stopped by to battle Corden over the past few months, though the new spin-off will likely take a page from Lip Sync Battle’s book and pit two celebrities against one another.

There’s no word on when Drop the Mic will premiere, but you can expect it to air in the 2016-2017 season on TBS! Corden, Ben Winston, and Jensen “Hot Karl” Karp are executive producing the show. “Now with TBS as our ideal partner, we hope to create some really memorable television”. NBC famously passed on the reality competition series that has since seen Spike develop the format for global markets as well as a kid’s take. It’s the second official Late Late Show segment to get adapted to series – Apple Music recently announced a series based on “Carpool Karaoke”.
In return, CBS Television Studios announced it was developing Carpool Karaoke as a stand-alone TV series.
“James Corden and Ben Winston have struck a nerve with their celebrity-driven, music-infused, incredibly fun content”, said Turner Network’s Michael Bloom.
