SAN ANTONIO – QB Bram Kohlhausen’s 8-yard touchdown run in the third overtime carried No. 11 TCU to a wild 47-41 victory over No. 15 OR in the Alamo Bowl. But he was no doubt hoping to give National Football League scouts one final look at his skills as the 11th-ranked Horned Frogs wrapped up their season.
In 2006, Texas Tech rallied from 31 points to beat Minnesota in the Insight Bowl.
“I told them we had an opportunity in the second half to show them what our program is all about”, TCU coach Gary Patterson said. But I honestly just dedicate this one to Trevone [Boykin]. “That’s the disappointing thing, just for the kids, and for him, all of them”. If the Ducks can keep up their potent attack they should have no problem pulling away from a TCU team that is lacking its offensive workhorses.
Boykin, along with junior wide receiver Preston Miller, will sit out of tonight’s Alamo Bowl, wreaking havoc at sportsbooks across the country and beyond. Kohlhausen nearly pulled TCU through, completing 5 of 11 passes with no interceptions for 122 yards and two TDs. Kohlhausen would take the ball to the one yard like with a diving flip jump that was not Marcus Mariota like, but TCU would be at the 1 yard line of Oregon.
Adds Patterson: “For me, it doesn’t make any difference which one of them starts”.
Expected to showcase one of the best matchups of the college football postseason, the Alamo Bowl was dealt a blow Thursday when dynamic TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin was suspended.
With Vernon Adams Jr. back a 100 percent, Oregon’s attack was unstoppable in the final six games of the season. Our guys battled and they believed until the end. “It’s been an awesome ride, tough way to end it today”.
Key injuries – including ones to their star quarterbacks – and poor play at different points prevented that from becoming a reality, and the Ducks and Horned Frogs are left to wonder what might have been as they get set to meet in the Alamo Bowl on Saturday night. Adams helped OR top 40 points four times during its 6-0 close, winning at then-No.
After two days of lopsided bowl results elsewhere, TCU and OR did their part to answer college football fans’ complaints.
Kicker Aidan Schneider put OR ahead 41-38 with a 44-yard field goal to start the second overtime. Both teams scored a touchdown in the first overtime and then matched field goals in the second overtime.
In the fourth quarter, a 34-yard Jaden Oberkrom field goal cut the deficit to 31-20. A Ducks offense that’d been humming (7.2 yards per play) in the first half struggled to find ground behind Lockie. Freeman rushed for eight yards on the next play, pushing OR 17 yards from a score. Coach James Franklin said X-rays “came back normal”. – TCU RB Aaron Green ran 25 times for 101 yards and a score, and caught two passes for 56 yards.
OR dominated for the majority of the first half, scoring 31 points and leading at halftime.

The Ducks were clicking behind the elusive Adams, who passed for 197 yards and a touchdown, scrambled out of several sacks and marched OR to four straight touchdowns and a 28-0 lead.
