TCU falls out of weekly polls following loss to Arkansas

Arkansas could have put TCU away in the fourth quarter, but a missed chip shot field goal resulted in a quick TD for the Horned Frogs. Arkansas held a 20-7 lead entering the fourth quarter, but that is when matters went wonky. Surely you understood that welcoming Arkansas into palatial Amon G. Carter Stadium with signs mocking the intelligence of The Natural State could end in only one way, that being in overtime and at the hands of the son of Bobby Allen. Then he refused to go down in overtime, just like his brother, and willed his body across the goal line with the help of some larger friends to capture victory.

After giving up their lead, Arkansas’ offense appeared flustered.

Arkansas then punted, and TCU’s KaVonte Tur miraculously was able to return it for 64 yards to the Arkansas 27. He won’t hesitate to target Arkansas’ secondary, so that group needs a demonstrably better effort than what we witnessed vs. the Bulldogs. Now QB Austin Allen and the Razorbacks Hogs look to remain undefeated ahead of their upcoming SEC conference schedule as they hit the road today. Though Arkansas struggled in victory against Louisiana Tech, the Razorbacks were victorious 21-20 over the Bulldogs.

The 5-foot-9, 153-pound speedster had 295 all-purpose yards, including 126 receiving.

After a few more plays, redshirt-freshman kicker Ryan Graf lined up for the game-winning field from 38 yards out.

Then it was 28-20 and the game seemed over.

They might want to pay a little more attention to the little guy, however, after they lost Stephen Curry by mispronouncing his name in a presentation to the two-time MVP.

TCU won the coin toss and elected to start the extra period on defense. Jeremy Sprinkle made a couple of tremendous catches in huge spots, one to convert a 2nd-and-23, and the other for a touchdown in the first overtime. “Great players make great plays, good players make good plays, average players make average plays”. He threw for 223 yards and three touchdowns on 17 of 29 passing, and by 137 rushing yards from tailback Rawleigh Williams III. TCU began the double OT with the ball.

All the Horned Frogs had to do was limit the Razorbacks to a field goal.

Then, Allen kept on third and goal from the 5, was nearly stopped at the 1 but every Razorback on the field seemed to converge and at just after 10 p.m. Saturday the Hogs had overcome a terrible fourth quarter to beat No. 15 TCU 41-38 in double overtime.

ESPN, which has to label and stamp everything, called it “Style Points Saturday”. He was not so much the tip of the spear as the tip of the X-ACTO knife, pushed through the corrugated TCU defense by the Hogs’ offensive line until he broke the plane, broke your hearts, and broke the narrative of slow-starting Arkansas that really wasn’t that accurate anyway.

Carraway said he’s already looking forward to the next game.

The win for the Razorbacks is their third-straight over a ranked opponent on the road going back to last season and snapped a 14-game home winning streak TCU had coming in.

“Tomorrow, we have to get to looking forward to Iowa State”, he said.
