TCU handles Iowa State, Cyclone fall to 0-3
Iowa State’s offense once again struggled to get going, its defense failed to get consistent stops, and to make things worse, it looks like the Cyclones don’t even know who their quarterback is following a 41-20 loss to TCU at Amon G. Carter Stadium on Saturday. The Horned Frogs led 10-0 after the opening quarter as redshirt freshman Ryan Graf kicked a 37-yard field goal and Hicks broke loose for a 64-yard scoring run. It’s sort of a joke, but sometimes we’re reminded that there is some level of truth to it. Iowa State quarterback Joel Lanning showed us all that on Saturday. Junior quarterback Kenny Hill passed for 219 yards and one touchdown and added one on the ground for the Horned Frogs (2-1, 1-0 Big 12). TCU held a 17-point halftime lead and quickly began its effort to blow the game open with a nine-play, 75-yard drive to start the second half.

IOWA ST: Another pre-noon kickoff for the Cyclones next Saturday when they go home to play San Jose State in their last non-conference game.
There’s a lot of game left in this one, but Iowa State might wanna consider letting Lanning run the ball as much as possible if no one is gonna tackle him.
It was a short scoring run, but it was one in which the Iowa State signal-caller powered through and embarrassed TCU defenders in the process.
While Iowa State couldn’t figure out who it wanted at quarterback, there was little uncertainty when it came to TCU.
After review, Porter’s catch was ruled not a touchdown, but MI transfer Derrick Green punched it in on the next play to give TCU the 24-7 lead.

Iowa State kicker Cole Netten connected on a 25-yard field goal to pull the Cyclones to within 31-10 in the third quarter but it didn’t matter. However, Porter was ruled down on the one-yard line, and running back Derrick Green scored a touchdown on the very next play to increase the Horned Frog lead to 17, 24-7.
