TCU QB Boykin suspended after arrest
“I have no excuses for my very poor decision, and I’m embarrassed about it. There’s nothing I wanted to do more than play one last game with my fellow seniors”.

In his four seasons with the Horned Frogs, Boykin, a senior from Dallas, has accounted for 110 touchdowns passing and rushing and more than 12,000 total yards.
San Antonio NBC affiliate News 4 reported that Boykin’s actions began when people at the bar recognized him and he started getting heckled about the upcoming game.
According to police, Boykin struck a bar employee during the incident inside the bar and then struck an officer after being escorted outside. San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said the officer had facial abrasions but is otherwise fine.
“Clearly this was not an appropriate way to act”, McManus said of Boykin. His teammates tried to get him to go back to hotel…. Boykin has been charged with felony assault of a police officer.
Boykin left the Bexar County jail on Thursday with a coat over his head before ducking into a vehicle.
TCU coach Gary Patterson issued a statement saying: “Trevone Boykin and [junior wide receiver] Preston Miller have been suspended for Saturday’s game due to a violation of team rules”.
The Oregon Ducks and TCU Horned Frogs Kickoff at 3:45pm Pacific Time on Saturday on ESPN.
Police charged Boykin with felony assault of a police officer stemming from a bar fight early Thursday morning.
Several officers took him to the ground, but he “would not comply with commands to stop resisting” until an officer warned him that he would use a Taser on him, according to Lopez.
McManus said the officer allegedly struck by Boykin was treated for a swollen face and bruised but was otherwise OK. “Naturally, it’s disappointing.” Cumbie said he thinks the arrest was out of character for the Boykin he knows. “He’s a good person”, TCU running back Aaron Green said.
I sincerely thank TCU for everything it has provided me, including an opportunity to earn my degree which I will always cherish. I hope others can learn from my mistake.
He will not play and that takes away a big part of the Offense for 10th ranked TCU.
