TEAM: Feds – Stop Using Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Phones

Samsung is apologetic over the case and to compensate, they have issued a $25 gift card and offered the consumers to have their units replaced with other Samsung model units. The Galaxy Note 4 Marshmallow update weighs about 1.3GB and it comes to with last month’s Android Security Patch.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission has also advised consumers to turn off their Note 7s and stop charging them.

He said that they have to compensate people and fix the problem. Aviation authorities and airlines from North America to Europe and Asia have issued bans or guidance on the phones, Reuters said.

United States and Japanese aviation authorities have urged passengers not to turn on or charge the large-screen phones on aircraft.

South Korea made similar recommendations on Saturday.

The aviation regulator clarified that a passenger can carry such phone on board in switch off mode and in cabin baggage.

The Note 7 was lauded as being even more advanced than the most recently available iPhones, featuring eye-scanning technology that moved a step beyond Apple’s use of biometrics. It got Samsung calling back every Note 7 that are from the first batched and the move resulted in a huge amount of losses for the tech giant.

This is “a huge black eye for Samsung”, TECHnalysis Research President Bob O’Donnell said.

Qantas and Virgin Australia also told customers not to use or charge the devices on their planes. Some outlets had reported that consumers should be able to return the Galaxy Note 7 to the store where they were purchased, but Samsung hasn’t released any details saying so.

For its part, the South Korean manufacturer says that it has found only 24 instances of spontaneous combustion, and that the technical fault with lithium-ion batteries exists in fewer than 0.1 percent of the handsets.
