Teammate joins Colin Kaepernick for anthem protest
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick continued his protest of the national anthem during Thursday night’s preseason game against the San Diego Chargers.

“I was in the Navy and I saw men and women bleed and die for this flag”, Uzcategui said.
He told USA Today Sports, “It’s just ridiculous that the same league that prohibits the Dallas (Cowboys) football club from honoring the slain officers in their community with their uniforms stands silent when Kaepernick is dishonoring police officers with what he’s wearing on the field”. He ministers to a number of America’s best known professional athletes. While I agree with most of Kaepernick’s points that he brings up with the media, I have to question what is being accomplished by his protests.
He was joined by his teammate, safety Eric Reid, who knelt beside the quarterback before the game between the San Francisco 49ers and San Diego Chargers. “I have great respect for them because they are doing it for the right reason and they genuinely want to protect and help people”, he said. He can do whatever he wants to do during the national anthem.
You know you’re about to read a truly unbelievable article when it references “black Jesus” and “the plantation”, by the first paragraph. Amid his burgeoning social activism, he is also fighting for a roster spot and attempting to regain the starting job that he lost last season.
“It doesn’t seem like he’s thought through or bothered to educate himself about the way (law enforcement officers) are out there trying to do a very hard job and the vast majority of the time get the job done right”, said Bill Johnson, who is the executive director of the National Association of Police Organizations.
The 37-year-old singer went on to further criticize the national anthem, asking his followers, “For those defending the current anthem, do you really truly love that song?” Lane said he doesn’t know Kaepernick, but was “standing behind him”. I was on a show with Joe Garagiola where he suggested that I leave the country because I said at times America is not living up to its responsibilities to all of its citizens.
Meanwhile, a Chargers fan said, “It’s sad for all the military people who have given their lives, and who are thinking of giving their lives for our freedom, for his right to do that and to disrespect the flag and everything that it stands for, but then again, that’s what they fought for so he would have his right”. The debate also prompted Boyer to pen an open letter to Kaepernick, published in the Army Times. He posted a photo of the two on Twitter with a caption reading, “Let’s just keep moving forward”. If we’re going to post the backlash stories, it’s important to post ones of support for Kaepernick.
Kaepernick’s social activism, which only emerged publicly in recent weeks, also included support for the Black Lives Matter movement through social media.

Instead, everyone is fixated on the action of sitting during the anthem and not the actual stance that Kaepernick is taking. Veterans and military members tweeted their support for Kaepernick in recent days under the hashtag “VeteransForKaepernick”. People felt like the fact that I had the opportunity to play in the National Basketball Association, I should be very grateful for that and not rock the boat.
