Tearful Nadiya takes Great British Bake Off crown
Despite making it to the final, Tamal and Ian Cumming were beaten by Nadiya Jamir Hussain as she won series six of the BBC One baking contest.

“Her performance has shown that just because she is a Muslim it doesn’t mean she can’t do well on something so typically British as Bake Off”.
“But actually, in the end, she couldn’t enjoy it because I was in there baking and she had no idea what was going on”. I’m never gonna say, ‘I don’t think I can.’ I can and I will.
In surroundings reminiscent of a village summer fair – a marquee tent on the grassy lawn of an elegant country house – contestants toil over baking challenges, then offer their creations for judgment to gimlet-eyed cookbook writer Mary Berry and bluff master baker Paul Hollywood.
Series one, two and three winners Edd Kimber, Joanne Wheatley, and John Waite have also released their own books after coming first, and with the show becoming more and more popular each year, it seems like this year’s victor Nadiya is bound to follow suit when it comes to continuing her career in both cooking and the public eye. I’m never going to say I don’t think I can. I bought a sari that was red, white and blue, in the colours of the union jack and I decorated my stand with that.
Nadiya said: “As they announced the victor, all I remember is not wanting to look at anyone, so I looked down at my shoes. It allowed me to follow my passion and fulfil my dreams in a way I never imagined”, he said recently.
Showstopper day arrives with all the contestant’s family, friends and the return of the ousted bakers, along with a bucket load of drizzle.
“We all had a slight sense of sadness that it was all coming to a close”. It has also pushed the live “who killed Lucy?” reveal episode of EastEnders broadcast on February 19 into third place.
A highlight of this year’s show for fans was Nadiya’s range of facial expressions.
The MAB said Nadiya has been “an inspiration to many British Muslims, and especially Muslim women”. “I was pretty exhausted but high on the adrenaline of what I had achieved so far”. I am really looking forward to see what will happen’.
User Eirian Williams said: “Crying at the final”. All of the bakers struggled with the challenge with the judges finding issues with all three bakes. PM David Cameron, passionate about the Bake Off show, had betted on Nadiya, saying she was “very calm under pressure”. “That was the best tasting final we have ever had”.

The technical challenge saw the trio try their hand at raspberry millefeuille. Meanwhile Tamal got busy with the spun sugar to create a triple masterpiece of sticky toffee pudding cakes which delighted Mary.
