Teaser Trailer and Poster for Toho’s Godzilla: Resurgence

Purists may think so, but the final verdict probably lies in the hands of movie goers come July 2016. This is filmed documentary style, and it does look like this will be a grittier Japanese Godzilla movie.

There are several “Godzilla” properties now in development, and the first one to drop a teaser trailer comes from Japan for “Godzilla: Resurgence”.

The first Godzilla: Resurgence teaser trailer below is all in Japanese, but that shouldn’t matter too much. Applying to Godzilla that kind of technology, which Higuchi calls “hybrid”, has never been attempted in Japan.

“Veteran animation director Mahiro Maeda is credited as the image designer and sculptor Takayuki Takeya as the character designer”, Variety reported. Both will co-direct the movie from a screenplay by Anno. It was directed by Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi (Neon Genesis Evangelion, Attack on Titan), from a script by Anno and special effects overseen by Higuchi. The short teaser shows Japan’s citizens in disarray, and the clip ends with Godzilla’s iconic roar. Audiences will see the King of Monsters from the ground, making the experience more intense and moving. No details on overseas releases has been shared yet. The beast has appeared in 31 films in all. Logically, you’ll need a monster big enough for that.
