Tebow now a New York Met
In a blue New York Mets’ batting practice jersey stitched with a No. 15 on the back, Tim Tebow began his bid to make it in professional baseball on Monday at Tradition Field at Port St. Lucie, Fla. “It was just fun”. Nearby businesses are gearing up for a big day as large crowds are expected to hit area restaurants.

The instructional league offers only a five-game schedule and it is unlikely Tebow will get a great opportunity to show-off his skills. The media contingent chronicling his every move was much smaller Tuesday, and there were fewer fans as well. The instructional league spans three weeks. “It’s cool”, Tebow said.
“Everything is going to be an adjustment for me”, Tebow said. “Thankful to be a Met”.
Tebow held a workout in Los Angeles on August 30 and 46 scouts attended.
Tebow’s last time playing true organized baseball was in his junior year of high school.
But keep in mind that this is only the first day, literally the real first step, in what likely will be a long journey for Tebow, who says he’s determined to pursue this as far as he can. “I didn’t want to put down a bat since”. “All those silly things that you have to go through, right? I don’t have to live with regret”. “He will miss Saturday sessions with the Mets” blessing as he fulfills his college football broadcasting commitment with the SEC Network. After signing Tebow to a deal earlier this month, Mets general manager Sandy Alderson denied that it had anything to do with a merchandise play.
The Patriots were the second-to-last National Football League team to give Tebow an opportunity following his stints with Denver and the Jets, but New England released him before the start of the 2013 season. Among them was an inquiry about whether or not the Patriots had reached out to Tebow, in the wake of Jimmy Garoppolo’s injury on Sunday.

He’s now one of 58 players on the Mets’ instructional league roster, and at 29 he’s also four years older than any other invitee. It was too small a sample size for it to mean anything, but Tebow is battling the skepticism of many baseball people, who doubt he will make it to the top level of the minor leagues, let alone the majors.
