Tech giant to launch new Windows 10 devices at October 6 event

“This will come as a ideal chance for Microsoft to one-up their long-time rival, Apple, as the Cupertino-based company has recently released a direct competitor to the Surface Pro line-up, the monolithic 12.9″ iPad Pro complete with an Apple Pencil and aimed to the enterprise. A Microsoft spokeswoman also said that the event will be live-streamed to the general public, according to ComputerWorld.

The Lumia 950 XL is expected to be the next flagship phone for Windows 10 and is rumoured to support Microsoft’s Surface Pen technology, allowing users to incorporate a stylus into their smartphone use, and a new smart cover.

Reports of a fall hardware launch first popped up toward the end of August, but Microsoft did not confirm the details of its event before sending invitations on September 14.

Microsoft has already released Windows 10 for computers. Microsoft is widely expected to unveil the Surface Pro 4, and the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL Windows smartphones at the media event. Microsoft may be looking to fix that at its upcoming October event with its Surface Pro 4 and the new Lumia handsets.

The Microsoft Band 2.0 would come a new interface and some enhanced fitness tracking features to take on various other wearables.

There are some known issues, but the most noteworthy is that Lumia phones lose some camera features, including DNG files and 41MP capture, when Windows 10 is installed.

Though there has been no hints on what Surface Pro 4 will pack, there have been rumours about the specifications of the tablet. The 950 (Talkman) will be the smaller variety of the two having a 5.2-inch display, while the 950 XL (Cityman) will have a 5.7-inch display.

The highly-anticipated mobile device is also speculated to include a 64-bit Snapdragon 810 Octa-core processor with 3GB of RAM.
