Ted Cruz apologizes to Ben Carson for saying Carson suspended his campaign

While polls put Trump firmly ahead in New Hampshire, the situation in the run-up to Iowa wasn’t much different.

“I don’t think anyone in this Republican field has big mo or small mo”, said Republican Pat Griffin, who has worked on a number of New Hampshire primary campaigns, including for Lamar Alexander in 1996.

Real-estate mogul Donald Trump’s poll standing deflated in the first national survey released after his loss to Sen.

“Ted Cruz didn’t win Iowa, he illegally stole it. That is why all of the polls were so wrong any [sic] why he got more votes than anticipated”.

The debate will begin at 8 p.m.

On NBC’s “Today” show Wednesday, Trump said he was “semi-satisfied” with his second-place finish.

But Christie said he would not have accused Cruz of stealing the Iowa caucuses, and that he now has his sights set on New Hampshire.

“We need to take him out of that controlled atmosphere because, believe me, it won’t be controlled against Hillary Clinton this fall”, he said.

Asked whether the campaign planned to file a formal complaint, Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski said: “Wait and see”. He now says he lost because Ted Cruz committed fraud.

That’s not quite how the story was shared by the Cruz campaign, which spread word in Iowa that Carson seemed to be suspending his campaign.

In the hours after the Iowa caucus, Donald Trump was courteous and somewhat subdued in his concession speech and tweeted a string of surprisingly reflective explanations for his second-place finish there.

Rubio, who finished a close third behind Trump in Monday night’s caucus, wasn’t spared from the renewed wrath of Trump.

Mr Rubio is trying to be the Republican establishment’s preferred alternative to Mr Trump or Mr Cruz.

New Hampshire’s first-in-the-nation primary will be held on February 9.

Mr Trump pulled out of the debate claiming he had been treated unfairly by host Fox News amid a feud with anchor and debate moderator Megyn Kelly. “Sen. Cruz told me that he was not aware of that when I talked to him, and that he did not agree with that kind of thing”.
