Ted Cruz Calls Basketball Hoop A ‘Ring’ And Forever Tarnishes ‘Hoosiers’

Remember the scene where Gene Hackman says that the basketball hoop in the gym of the small, plucky high school team in that movie is the same height as the one in the big city opponents that they are playing?

Trump will hold a rally in Indianapolis on Wednesday where he will be joined by famed former Indiana University basketball coach Bob Knight.

Cruz’s comment was ridiculed on social media, drawing comparisons to Democrat John Kerry’s famous faux pas, when in 2004 he referred to the Green Bay Packers home field in football crazed-Wisconsin as “Lambert Field”, instead of Lambeau.

People in IN either love Knight or hate him, said undecided Republican voter Russ Hammer, who attended the Cruz rally.

The historic Knightstown gymnasium is named Hoosier Gym.

Mr. Cruz said the people of IN are hurting, though he credited “two incredible governors” – Mr. Pence and former Gov. Mitch Daniels – for reducing taxes and regulations IN the state. The man fumbled a bit with the tape measure as Cruz made a cringe-worthy slip-of-the-tongue in this basketball-crazy state. She stressed that Cruz “must be the next president of the United States”, and framed both Trump and Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton as “part of the system”.

Senator Ted Cruz is not spending election night in Pennsylvania.

“The incredible thing is, that basketball ring here in IN, it’s the same height as it is New York City and every other place in this country”.

“Last night was Donald Trump’s night and today is Indiana’s day”. Hoosiers is one of my favorite movies of all time. Cruz said he wouldn’t campaign in OR or New Mexico while Kasich agreed not to campaign in Indiana.
