Ted Cruz endorses Donald Trump for president
“And if you don’t want to see a Hillary Clinton presidency, I encourage you to vote for him”, the former Republican presidential candidate said in a lengthy statement.

“A year ago, I pledged to endorse the Republican nominee, and I am honoring that commitment”.
Trump replied that “I am greatly honored by the endorsement of Senator Cruz”. The Texas senator’s announcement of support, made on Facebook, comes just days before the first debate between Trump and Hillary Clinton.
CNN reported that Trump’s running mate, Mike Pence, played a major role in bringing Cruz into the fold.
Trump has hired key Cruz allies such as Kellyanne Conway as his campaign manager, and Jason Miller as a spokesman.
At the same time, the large staff that worked on Cruz’s presidential bid pushed him not to endorse.
Cruz shocked the political world when he announced that he would support Trump in the November election.
“If Clinton wins, we know – with 100% certainty – that she would deliver on her left-wing promises, with devastating results for our country”, Cruz wrote. After Trump’s press release, Cruz went to Twitter to publicly thank the presidential nominee.
But it’s personal between Cruz and Trump.
“First, and most important, the Supreme Court”, he started. Trump also backed Cruz’s position in a congressional squabble over internet regulation. Those tweets have not been deleted from Trump’s account.
“This man is a pathological liar”, Mr. Cruz said of Mr. Trump on the day he ended his presidential campaign. There, he was given a speaking slot and, in a scene nearly out of professional wrestling, was booed off the stage as Trump emerged in the crowd and waved to supporters. “Stand and speak and vote your conscience”.
How many Supreme Court nominees does Donald Trump need?
During the RNC, Cruz received a standing ovation as he took the stage but was booed offstage after he withheld the endorsement and instead advised Americans to “vote your conscience”.
Yes, Cruz should have gone after Trump earlier in primary season when the two were bromancing while Cruz waited for what he thought would be an inevitable Trump implosion. If he gives it I will – I will not accept.
The move might also backfire.
Polls have since suggested that Cruz’s popularity was slipping nationally and back home in Texas, where he could face a primary challenger for re-election in 2018.
In December, Cruz promised that nothing would come between him and Trump. Cruz repeatedly lauded Trump as “terrific” and said he was happy the real estate mogul was in the presidential race.
In an excerpt of the program posted online by Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter on Friday, Springsteen said he understands why people who have struggled to make ends meet could find some of Trump’s arguments compelling.
But on Friday, Trump assured the names were set. Trump has said he would release his taxes after an IRS audit.
In a 741-word Facebook post Friday, Cruz wrote that he made the decision because he wants to “keep his word” to vote for the Republican nominee and because he finds Hillary Clinton “wholly unacceptable”. He also connected Cruz’s father, Rafael, to former United States president John F. Kennedy’s assassination.
“Actually I was happy, because it shows how weak they are, it shows how pathetic they are”, Trump said.
