Some 77 percent of them think the country is on the “wrong track”, which puts them more in line with Trump supporters than Clinton backers.
Cruz notably snubbed Trump at the party’s convention in July, urging the audience to “vote your conscience” to boos and jeers.
Fifty-three percent call Clinton at least somewhat qualified, while just 30 percent say Trump is.
A statement from Trump thanked Cruz as a “brilliant” former rival.
But he has now said he was greatly honoured to have Mr Cruz backing him.
“What we have to do is use our history to propel us to make even more progress in the future”, Obama said.
The New York Times first reported Reines’ involvement in debate preparations. Early voting has already begun in some states. Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton remain locked in a tight race as both struggle to unite their party’s behind them.
It presents a major opportunity for them to appeal to voters who have yet to commit to a candidate after a mostly negative race in which Ms Clinton and Trump have sought to brand each other as untrustworthy and risky for the country. Trump, a pathological liar, has said he would sign it. “Everything that comes out of his mouth that is fact-checked turns out to be a lie”. “And Donald Trump is the only thing standing in her way”, Cruz said. The Texas senator released nine years of his returns, while Trump has refused to release any.
But part of her plan is also to show her opponent as being unable to run the country.
Trump’s campaign, in a departure from the typical lowering of expectations one might generally see before a debate, has been bullish in predicting a strong performance from their candidate as well.
Clinton’s ad reservations going forward total about $11 million per week, but her campaign can add to those buys at any time.
In contrast to those lowered expectations set by Trump’s staff, the GOP nominee may have raised the bar for himself by poking fun at Clinton’s debate preparations at a rally in Pennsylvania Thursday night, suggesting she is still recovering from her recent bout with pneumonia.
Cruz cited two reasons for his shift. “Second, even though I have had areas of significant disagreement with our nominee, by any measure Hillary Clinton is wholly unacceptable – that’s why I have always been #NeverHillary”. The discussions, which were relayed by more than a half-dozen sources, have veered into finger pointing, with some participants pinning the blame on the Republican National Committee or on Steven Mnuchin, Trump’s national finance chairman and a newcomer to the political scene.
‘We as Americans should be embarrassed about Donald Trump, ‘said Michael DeLuise, 66, a retired university vice president and registered Republican who lives in Eugene, Oregon.
Texas Senator Ted Cruz has officially endorsed Donald Trump for president.
Despite having never participated in a one-on-one debate during his short career as a politician, Trump, too, has appeared confident.
