Ted Cruz Eyes More Delegates in Wyoming
“I ask you to please support the men and women on this slate”. There are 95 delegates at stake in the Empire State, and it’s important for Trump to win a big majority of them.By the way, the rules that will govern the convention in Cleveland in July will be set by the convention delegates, a plurality of whom will almost certainly be pledged to Trump.Cruz spoke at the convention, capping off a months-long effort to organize support in the state. But it’s a tactic that Republicans say carries real risks for the billionaire businessman.

While both Democratic and Republican presidential contenders aim to win popular vote totals state-by-state, they are also wooing delegates who ultimately pick their party’s nominee at the convention.
Cruz won 14 of 14 Republican National Convention delegates up for grabs at the Wyoming state convention here Saturday.
He was blunt about his doubts regarding Cruz’s chances of securing the 1,237 delegates needed to secure the nomination on the first ballot. The Trump campaign had a table with some snacks and literature, staffed by two out-of-town Trump volunteers.
Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus met with GOP House members Tuesday on Capitol Hill to assuage concerns sparked by presidential front-runner Donald Trump’s accusations the nominating process is rigged.
“It’s the responsibility of the campaigns to understand it”, Priebus wrote.
“We gave no campaign special treatment”, said Courtney.
This is a terrific message for Trump and may be the second act he needs to push himself over the delegate threshold by June 7, when California votes.
“I do not want any of them working with next generation science”, Powers said.
Trump called the process “totally unfair” and criticized the state party for canceling its presidential straw poll.
“This is a very normal system that we’ve been using many for years”, Priebus told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer Friday. “And, you know, it matters when something is right and something is wrong to me”. “It’s not a matter of party insiders”.
NY is a large and diverse state, so he probably won’t win all the congressional districts. The RNC can recommend convention bylaws, but only the convention’s 2,472 delegates can adopt them.
That isn’t likely to do much to placate Trump.
“I didn’t vote for Trump”.
Then there’s this fact: Recent polling suggests little appetite in the Republican Party to keep the nomination from Trump if he has the most votes but can’t get to 1,237 delegates before the convention. That’s a separate process, in which party activists seek the positions primarily through local, district and state party conventions. Brandon Phillips, Trump’s campaign director in Georgia, said he was content with the results of his home district’s convention, which chose him as one of its three delegates.
Bruce Ash, RNC committeeman from Arizona, wrote the harshly worded email to the other 55 members of the GOP rules committee that he chairs. First, he’d bring conservatives to the polls, which could help vulnerable Republicans running for Congress. Imperiled congressional Republicans might not be thrilled to have Cruz atop the ticket, but they could at least endorse him, something many might not do if the nominee were Trump.
No one from her state delegation of 20 people from Lincoln County has had their room and board paid for, she said. “There’s nothing the RNC can do about it”, Priebus said.

“Alan Cobb, senior adviser to Trump’s campaign, was more diplomatic, saying the state simply doesn’t fit well into the overall strategy because of the emphasis on GOP regulars”. Reportedly, Trump’s plans involve a spin which may have already started.
