Texas Sen. Ted Cruz’s abrupt about-face on Friday left some local Cruz supporters disappointed and unwilling to follow suit.

Ted Cruz, as many of you are now aware, endorsed his one-time adversary Donald Trump for president on Friday.
“I think we have one of two choices”, Cruz replied.
Trump, the US Republican Party’s presidential candidate, took to Twitter on Saturday to thank his “foe-turned friend” for the support. And I intend to keep my word. “Second, even though I have had areas of significant disagreement with our nominee, by any measure Hillary Clinton is wholly unacceptable – that’s why I have always been #NeverHillary”. The endorsement indicates that he realizes “Trump could actually win”, Polland said, and if that happens, “You don’t want to have somebody hostile towards you in your own party”. “He’s bold, he’s brash, and I think the support he’s gaining right now in the polls is because people are looking for someone willing to stand up to Washington”.
Cruz refused for months to get behind Trump, saying the bellicose tycoon went too far in insulting his family during the bitter primaries.
Trump has been branded as a phony by hard-line conservatives, Cruz among them, who see him more as a political opportunist than a true Republican.
Lee’s inclusion is seen by some as part of an effort to woo Cruz, one of Trump’s most high-profile holdouts.
In addition, a Public Policy Polling (PPP) survey released in August shows Cruz at a disadvantage in a hypothetical match-up between himself and former Texas Governor Rick Perry for Senate.
Cruz recalled meeting Republicans across the state who sobbed as they asked him to get behind the nominee.
There is talk that Trump may nominate Cruz to the Supreme Court.
In a statement Mr Trump said he was “greatly honoured” by Mr Cruz’s announcement.

“A lot of the other candidates have gone out of their way to smack him with a two-by-four, said some really nasty, vicious things”, Cruz told BBC last fall.
