Donald Trump will formally accept the Republican nomination for president Thursday night with a crucial speech in the maverick billionaire’s drive for a popularity “bounce” from his party’s controversial national convention.

“In that speech last night, I did not say a single negative word about Donald Trump”, Cruz told his fellow Texans inside a Marriott ballroom.
Pence acknowledged “primaries are hard things” and “get a little bit rough”.
Katie Packer, a Republican strategist who founded Our Principles PAC in a failed attempt to stop the Trump nomination, said on the same panel that she doesn’t think Trump will get a bump in the polls following the convention because the event hasn’t done enough to reach out to independent voters and “soft Republicans”. “He pledged to support the nominee and he needed to say that”, said Robinson, who added that she understood why some delegates booed.
But many in the crowd were unsatisfied with his explanations for not endorsing Trump.
It’s time to come together and fight for a new direction for America.
Balderdash. This was a huge deal, huge enough to make one wonder: Why did Trump approve Cruz’s speech in the first place? They shouted at Cruz as he told them to “stand up and vote your conscience” both “up and down the ticket” for candidates that will “be faithful to the constitution”.
The delegates responded with angry boos, and Cruz backer and former Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli escorted Heidi Cruz off the convention floor as she was heckled by Trump delegates.
Delegates to the convention said they expect Mrs. Trump to get a warm reception.
Speaking to a passionate but divided Texas delegation, Cruz said the unconditional support for the GOP nominee that he had promised earlier this year disappeared “the day this became personal”. There reportedly were tensions between Jared Kusher and Christie, a closer adviser to the Trump campaign, with some sources saying Jared Kushner lobbied against Trump picking Christie as his running mate.
State Sen. Alberta Darling, who voted for Cruz in the primary, said it was “disappointing”.

On Wednesday night, he emerged in the convention hall while Cruz was still speaking, a move that appeared meant to steal some attention away from the senator.
“The most important thing is I know the man”, Ivanka said. When Sen. Ted Cruz urged the audience to simply vote its conscience in November, the site erupted in loud boos and scattered applause. Their resistance continues, even though speaker after speaker pleaded with them to consider that the alternative is a Hillary Clinton presidency. She also has her own fashion line that has come under scrutiny following the April recall of a scarf made in China that was deemed flammable, the Washington Post reported. “Than all of the people who voted in the elections?” he said.
“He went back on his word to support the nominee”.

The former Apprentice host is expected to stress that he is “your voice” and that while Clinton’s slogan is “I’m With Her”, he will choose to recite a different pledge: “I’m With You – the American People”.
