Ted Cruz looking to win more delegates in Colorado

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz has tried to pick up more delegates in Colorado, while party front-runner Donald Trump stayed in his home state to focus on New York’s all-important April 19 primary. Bernie Sanders, is at just 39 percent unfavorable, but he trails far behind Clinton in the delegate battle for the Democratic nomination.

For this reason, I will be supporting Ted Cruz at the Republican State Convention in Colorado Springs on Saturday.

The state’s Republican establishment coalesced around Cruz.

It’s definitely an insider’s game, which is one reason that Trump appears to be struggling to get his supporters selected as delegates, even though he’s won the most primaries. So far, he is winning about 45%. Marco Rubio, who suspended his campaign, has 171 delegates.

The candidates’ continued pressure at a time when primaries campaigns usually have been decided is part of unusual intensity in presidential politics this year.

The Trump campaign organization has always been relatively small, and in Colorado those organizing shortfalls have been apparent.

But going forward, Trump has a number of advantages in the upcoming round of contests in the states of NY and Pennsylvania.

On the Democratic side, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton also received a high unfavorable rating, with 55 percent saying they view her negatively.

Bash asked Cruz, a Southern Baptist, whether he can appeal to New York’s Jewish population.

To date, Clinton has 1,287 delegates based on primaries and caucuses to Sanders’ 1,037. That could be a problem for Trump, who could end up with delegates who are required to vote for him on the first ballot, but can switch to someone else on subsequent ballots should they desire. Sanders has 1,068. The campaign fired its Colorado state director last Saturday, just after he had arrived.

“Now that we are in the second half of this campaign, we are going to state after state which I think have a more progressive outlook”, Mr Sanders said. “We are in this race to win”.

As I said last week, it’s time for Republicans to relax and let the nominating process play out.

“It’s a fact that our economy does better when we have a Democrat in the White House”, she said. She made a stop at Junior’s restaurant in Brooklyn, where she spoke admiringly of the cheesecake, before her campaign event.

It’s only been a few months since the Texas senator went after Trump with a campaign ad highlighting the billionaire’s past support for abortion rights – aimed at casting doubt on Trump’s conservative bona fides.

That’s where Colorado Republicans are meeting to elect 13 statewide delegates to this summer’s Republican National Convention. Each Colorado Congressional District gets three delegates and three alternates, for 21 delegates and 21 alternates total.

Seven of 26 names on Trump delegate list have incorrect numbers. His campaign contended the errors were due to changes to the ballot by the state GOP and did not rule out challenging the results.

California’s Republican Party denies it is Anti-Trump in any way. “#NeverTrump.” Colorado GOP spokesman Kyle Kohli said the tweet was unauthorized and it was swiftly deleted.

One group that is still with him includes those who describe themselves as both Republicans and supporters of the tea party movement.

Most delegate trackers forecast that Trump needs to win slightly more than 60 percent of the remaining available delegates to win the nomination before the July convention. At the caucus, participants will declare their support for their candidate, or uncommitted. All of whom Donald Trump has supported, has given tens of thousands of dollars throughout the years. “It seems kind of rigged”.

The move follows Mr Trump’s loss this week in Wisconsin to rival Ted Cruz, which makes it increasingly unlikely that Mr Trump will be unable to collect the 1,237 delegates needed to win the nomination before the national Republican convention.

Despite strong NYC support Donald Trump's unfavorability ratings are high
