Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio battle to stop Donald Trump’s growing momentum

In his speech, Cruz congratulated Trump on his “strong evening” and then cast himself as the only candidate who could beat him.
Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson and Ohio Gov. John Kasich shared 8.4 percent of the vote.
Trump, the front-runner in the Republican race, captured the Nevada caucuses Tuesday by winning almost everywhere.
“Donald Trump swept to a convincing victory in the Nevada presidential caucuses here Tuesday evening, building a broad coalition that left his top two rivals trailing far behind and accelerating his march to the Republican nomination”, wrote the Washington Post on Wednesday.

A poll of voters by CNN showed Trump had supporters across most demographic groups.
Trump held a huge lead over his rivals, albeit with just 5% of the precincts counted on Tuesday evening.

In addition to winning the Hispanic vote, per the precincts that had already reported, Trump said he won with both young and old voters, as well as those who were “highly educated” and “poorly educated”.
