Ted Cruz Offers ‘Stunning’ Endorsement of Donald Trump

Cruz finished second in the Republican nomination, surviving while all the more mainstream candidates flamed out.

Regardless of what happens in this year’s election, Ted Cruz will not be elected President in 2020 after his endorsement of Donald Trump. The two went back and forth butting heads at debates, on Twitter, and in the media. They will say Ted Cruz flip-flopped; that he’s not as principled as his followers believed him to be; that Cruz is the “servile puppy dog” he claimed not to be when he urged the Cleveland audience at the Republican National Convention to “vote your conscience” instead of the party nominee.

The comments underscore a dramatic U-turn for Cruz, who has referred to Trump as a “trainwreck” and a “pathological liar” who could not be trusted in the White House.

Ted Cruz announced Friday he will vote for Donald Trump, a dramatic about-face for the Texas senator who previously called the NY businessman a “pathological liar” and “utterly amoral”.

The decision marks a politically risky move for Cruz, who pointedly refused to endorse Trump during a prime-time speech at the Republican National Convention in July.

He writes, “Hillary Clinton is manifestly unfit to be president, and her policies would harm millions of Americans”.

The attack Trump most frequently deployed against Cruz was the nickname the real estate mogul turned politician used to describe his competition: “Lyin’ Ted”.

On Friday afternoon, Cruz ended his months-long standoff with Trump, issuing a statement that said he will vote for the nominee.

We pay for juicy info! Previously, Trump had accused Cruz’s father of conspiring to kill JFK, and threatened to “spill the beans” on his wife.

In a 741-word Facebook post Friday, Cruz wrote that he made the decision because he wants to “keep his word” to vote for the Republican nominee and because he finds Hillary Clinton “wholly unacceptable”.

Mr Cruz, a senator from Texas who is a favourite of the Tea Party movement, was one of Mr Trump’s last challengers for the Republican presidential nomination to drop out of the race.

The truth, Cruz said, was that Trump had personally attacked his wife, Heidi, and father, Rafael. “If Clinton wins, we know-with 100 percent certainty-that she would deliver on her left-wing promises, with devastating results for our country”, adding, “my conscience tells me I must do whatever I can to stop that”.

“While my brother and I might disagree as to which list is better, they’re both great”, the senator joked.

But he has now said he was greatly honoured to have Mr Cruz backing him.
