A reporter immediately asked Cruz if he would still support Trump as the nominee, as Cruz has repeatedly vowed to do.

For the second night in a row, Donald Trump took to Twitter to target the wife of his fiercest rival in the GOP presidential race, Sen.

It started with a risque photo of Donald Trump’s wife Melania, a former model, sent to Utah voters by an anti-Trump super-PAC independent of the Ted Cruz campaign.

The ad was created by the anti-Trump Make America Awesome Again super PAC and featured a photo shoot of Melania from 2000 with the meme caption: “meet Melania Trump”.

Let’s be clear: the insults towards candidates’ spouses have been emanating, more or less, from one source throughout the entire campaign: Trump.

The attacks on wives of candidates, celebrities, and people in the media are distraction techniques that are meant to shift the subject away from Trump’s lack of qualifications to be president.

Ted Cruz quickly fired back, tweeting, “Donald, real men don’t attack women”.

This isn’t the first time that Cruz’s depiction of Trump as a lying, embarrassing, secretly liberal candidate wasn’t enough to stop his willingness to eventually support him. Half of U.S. women say they have a “very unfavorable” view of the billionaire businessman, according to Reuters/Ipsos polling in March.

In a campaign appearance for her husband in Waukesha, Wisconsin, Heidi Cruz addressed the uproar briefly. Oh, and he also criticised Trump’s “conservative credentials”.

Then, Wednesday on CNN, Cruz responded to Trump’s indignation. “Here in Wisconsin the polling shows Donald Trump and I are tied”.

“The key to seeing small businesses grow is lifting the burden in Washington of taxes and regulations”, Cruz says while addressing the crowd.

The wives of presidential candidates Donald Trump and Ted Cruz have been dragged into online mud-slinging with both candidates accusing the other of starting the feud
