In Maine, Cruz won by a comfortable margin over Trump.

A separate Magellan Strategies poll from the same state places Trump at 41%, Cruz at 21%, Rubio at 15%, and Kasich at 9%.

Jay Edwards, 78, in Baton Rouge voted for Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary.

Sanders drew thousands of supporters to a University of Nebraska concert hall in downtown Lincoln on Thursday.

Cruz claimed Kansas and ME, and declared it “a manifestation of a real shift in momentum”.

Trump and Cruz both campaigned in ME in the past week, but Rubio skipped the state. Because those delegates are unpledged and can change their mind if they see momentum moving another way, she was likely hoping to solidify her lead over the Vermont senator before the two move on to states with more delegates later this month.

ABC News projects Bernie Sanders will win the Nebraska Democratic caucuses, based on analysis of the vote. That means Clinton will maintain her substantial delegate lead to date. Up for grabs were a total of 109 delegates. The state also holds Republican and Democratic primaries on Tuesday.

Clinton’s lead is even greater when including superdelegates, the party officials who can support any candidate they wish. Marco Rubio, at least five, according to a count by The Associated Press. It takes 2,383 delegates to win the nomination.

But because delegates are being awarded proportionally in the weekend races, Trump’s GOP rivals and Clinton’s sole opponent had limited opportunity to curb the drive of the front-runners.

Rubio was third at 16.7, followed by Ohio Governor John Kasich with 10.7 percent. In Louisiana’s primary, there was no threshold to earn delegates. And Cruz, not Trump, won three of the four.

On the Democratic side, Bernie Sanders notched wins in Nebraska and Kansas, while front-runner Hillary Clinton snagged Louisiana, another divided verdict from the American people. The same holds for the Nebraska Democratic caucuses, where results are expected after 8 p.m. ET. In 2008, then-Illinois Sen.

At least three presidential campaigns hit Louisiana today, with the Pelican State primaries looming tomorrow.

Sanders had events in OH on Saturday as the Democrats kept close watch on those two big states and their upcoming delegate hauls. The Associated Press has not called the race in Kansas as it waits for those results.

Democrats and Republicans have contests in Kansas and Louisiana. “Stupid people, stupid”, he said.

“I would like to take on Ted one-on-one”, he said, ticking off a list of big states where he said Cruz had no chance.

The hunt for delegates by the presidential candidates is resuming Saturday.

Unlike in past years, the Maine GOP outcome will be binding on delegates. It was Cruz’ fifth win of the nominating race. Marco Rubio for the Republicans.

Benefiting from a caucus system that requires organization from campaigns and commitment from voters, Cruz took the first prize Saturday with his Kansas win. And he was in the mood to celebrate.

“I thank the people of Kansas for their strong support”, Sanders said in a statement Saturday.

But with Trump yet to win states by the margins he’ll need to secure the nomination before the GOP convention, every one of the 155 GOP delegates at stake on Saturday was worth fighting for.

“What it represents is Republicans coalescing, saying it would be a disaster for Donald Trump to be our nominee”, he said. He said he expects it’ll far exceed last the 2012 caucus, when more than 5,000 voters came out.

Trump adds, “We’re going to stay within the law, but we’re going to increase it”. Many in the Republican establishment are apoplectic over whether anyone can stop Trump’s march. He had previously advocated killing the wives and children of violent Islamic extremists, as well as bringing back waterboarding, a practice discontinued by the Obama administration.
