Teddy Bridgewater Injured At Vikings Practice

The team announced that Bridgewater also dislocated his left knee and sustained other structural damage, though he has no nerve or arterial damage.

This appears to be a devastating injury for the third-year quarterback and his team, which was counting on him to take a big step forward in 2016. “Surgical fix will be scheduled within the next few days”, Sugarman said.

Teddy Bridgewater reportedly suffered a gruesome leg injury during Vikings practice today.

Right now the Vikings has backup quarterbacks Joel Stave and Shaun Hill, with Stave seeing more time behind center which is more or less because he is a rookie.

Head coach Mike Zimmer acknowledged that the injury was “significant” even if they don’t know the full extent just yet. Teddy’s a great kid and he’ll be back as soon as he possibly can. ESPN’s Ben Goessling initially reported that the team cut a practice short when quarterback Teddy Bridgewater went down on a non-contact play. But the show must go on, and the Vikings must keep their eyes on the ultimate goal.

That injury will put him out for the 2016 season, which is obviously a huge blow to the Vikings’ chances.

His role in the offense was lessened a year ago because the team leaned on rushing champion Adrian Peterson, but he was still a big part of the Vikings winning the NFC North.

The Vikings host Los Angeles Rams in their final preseason game Thursday night. Players took knees as medical staff attended to Bridgewater, according to Matt Vensel of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

“Everybody can count us out if they want”, Zimmer said.

In his first two seasons with the Vikings, Bridgewater posted a 17-11 record, and led the team to the NFC North division title last season. He also rushed for 192 yards and three more scores. After he spoke for a bit, it’s pretty clear that the situation surrounding Bridgewater at the moment is not promising. The Vikings are expected to add another quarterback, as undrafted free agent rookie Joel Stave is the only other QB now on the roster.

“This isn’t a one-man deal”, Zimmer said.

“We still got AP [Adrian Peterson] and a good defense”, Connor Steffens, from Wayzata, said. “We’ve got some great football players on this team, we’ll figure out ways to win football games if he’s not here”.
