Teddy Bridgewater: My objective will not be denied

Hours after suffering a season-ending dislocated knee at a practice, the third-year quarterback kept his cool in this Vikings huddle.

“This isn’t the typical ACL fix from a non-contact injury, where all you have to worry about is making the knee stable”, Armin Tehrany of Manhattan Orthopedic Care told USA Today.

Bridgewater, the No. 32 overall draft pick in 2014, dropped back to pass during a drill, planted his foot and went down.

Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer will address the media later today, per Mike Vensel of the Star Tribune. While a torn ACL and dislocated knee is bad enough to end his 2016 season before it started, it could have been much worse. The Vikings have said Bridgewater was fortunate to avoid damage to his arteries and nerves. He will undergo surgery in the next few days. He is expected to make a full recovery.

Bridgewater issued a statement through the team, reading: “I want to thank the Wilf Family and the entire Vikings organization, all of my teammates, friends, [head athletic trainer] Eric Sugarman and the unbelievable Vikings athletic training staff and the fans who have sent me messages and wished me well”.

A group of six or seven Minnesota Vikings players took a trip to visit quarterback Teddy Bridgewater in the hospital last Tuesday, the day he suffered his devastating knee injury.

“I can’t tell you enough about our medical staff, how well they explained everything to the family and to the representatives, gave him the options of potential doctors to see, ‘ Spielman said”.

“We’ll let you know tonight or tomorrow, as soon as we find out the extent of it”, Zimmer said at a news conference. “Everybody can count us out if they want, but I think that’d be the wrong thing to do”.

With Bridgewater heading to injured reserve, the Vikings re-signed quarterback Brad Sorensen, whom they had added to the roster after Bridgewater was held out of the team’s second preseason game in Seattle on August 18 with a sore shoulder.

Shaun Hill is the new starter.
