Teddy Bridgewater to have knee surgery Thursday

A week before the season begins, the Cowboys’ NFC East rival the Philadelphia Eagles traded away last year’s starting quarterback, Sam Bradford, to the Minnesota Vikings, the Eagles announced.

For now, Shaun Hill is presumed to be the team’s starting quarterback when the team heads to Tennessee this weekend.

The most reasonable timetable for the 2010 first overall draft pick to take over is probably the following week for the home game against Green Bay, with Shaun Hill playing this week. The deal, made after quarterback Teddy Bridgewater tore his ACL and dislocated his left knee on August 30, plucked Bradford from the Eagles’ starting lineup and has forced him to learn a new offense eight days before the start of the regular season.

Sunday of the Week: Cleveland Browns at Philadelphia Eagles, 1 p.m. ETSunday of the Week II: Minnesota Vikings at Tennessee Titans, 1 p.m.

After last week’s preseason game (before Bradford arrived) Peterson said he took it upon himself to pick up the slack. All this Bradford-Hill chatter just means Matt Cassel will be summoned to replace Titans starter Marcus Mariota and be a major factor in the outcome.

The Titans Radio Network, including Nashville flagship 104.5 The Zone, will carry the game across the Mid-South with the “Voice of the Titans” Mike Keith, analyst Frank Wycheck, gameday host Rhett Bryan and sideline reporter Jonathan Hutton.

The reason? Kelly’s offense inflates numbers and makes quarterbacks look better than they might actually be.

The Super Bowl rematch and season kickoff is missing one of its biggest stars, unless you count the thousands of DirecTV commercials that will inevitably be run during the game. For the most part, I’ve been a backup quarterback in this league and life as a backup is there’s no warning.

Bradford plans to help Bridgewater with his recovery. “But I can’t tell you if that’s going to be the case or not”.

In order to get Bradford up to speed with the playbook, he’s been putting in long days working directly with quarterbacks coach Scott Turner. “So unless it scrolls across the bottom on Disney Junior, I don’t see it”, Hill said.

It is safe to say that Zimmer will remain guarded in naming his Week 1 starter.

“They wouldn’t give up a 1 and a 4 to have a guy sit very long”, he said. I said after Teddy got hurt that we were going to try to figure out a way how to continue to win.

“I was a little surprised just because it wasn’t on my radar, but I think that surprise quickly turned into excitement when I realized the opportunity I had ahead”, said Bradford, who won the Heisman Trophy at Oklahoma but has never been to the playoffs in the NFL.
