Teen accused in face-biting slayings claimed superpowers

A 19-year-old Florida State University sophomore fatally stabbed two Martin County residents while walking home Monday night, authorities said. When the authorities arrived, Austin was reportedly found chewing on John’s face while Michelle lay dead on the ground. But Martin County Sheriff William Snyder told reporters that Harrouff may been on the synthetic drugs known as flakka or bath salts.

The sheriff said Harrouff had joined his family for dinner at a restaurant a short distance away when he stormed off, apparently agitated about slow service.

John Joseph Stevens III, 59, and his wife, Michelle Stevens, 53, were sitting in their garage when Harrouff approached and allegedly stabbed them to death, police said. He underwent surgery early Tuesday morning.

Tequesta police officers searched the area for Harrouff, but they couldn’t find him. “I’m bleeding profusely at the moment”. “The guy must be crazed”.

Snyder said initial drug test results for the suspect showed no signs of methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin or other common drugs in his blood.

Martin County Sheriff William Synder said Austin Harrouff was incoherent and making “animal-like noises” when he was taken to a hospital after the Monday night attack.

Flakka causes users’ body temperatures to soar to 104 or 105 degrees, causing them to rip off their clothes.

Harrouff was in critical condition Tuesday and has only provided minimal details to police. Snyder described him as “abnormally strong”, but friends called the 6-feet-2 -inch, 200-pound pre-exercise science major gentle and obedient.

“The coaches would always try to get him mad and play angry, and he never had it in him”.

Got a question about the news?

It happened at 19000 SE Kokomo Lane, just off of SE Island Way, at 9:20 p.m. When his parents became concerned, they called Jupiter police, according to the Palm Beach Post.

This is not the first time that such kind of attack was reported. The deputy tried to pull Harrouff off, “but he was exhibiting abnormal levels of strength”, Snyder said. John Stevens, who attended Miami Killian Senior High, is survived by a daughter, Ivy Stevens, who works in a salon nearby.

Neighbors also said the couple often went out on their boat and fished.

Despite their injuries the neighbour escaped and dialled 911. The couple was in their garage, a frequent hang out spot for the husband and wife.

Attempts to reach Fisher for comment were unsuccessful.

Harrouff is accused of killing the couple outside their Tequesta home Monday night.

MCSO says deputies were eventually able to pry the suspect off and take him into custody.
