A teen boy is facing charges after he was caught on camera fighting with a teacher at a Northeast Philadelphia high school. Numerous students who spoke with NBC10 defended the teacher’s actions. We showed the video to Mary McCoullum, whose grandson attends Lincoln High School.

Police say the student is now charged with assault, but his name has not been released since he’s a juvenile.
The teacher’s union said they would not have a statement on the matter. He then went to a classroom and was again confronted in hallway.
Authorities say the boy argued with the teacher about being late to class and that the teacher called for security, but began fighting with the student after the student pushed him. I come from the old school.
The teacher had to get stitches. We did not fight our teachers.
The teacher, whose name we’re withholding, was not charged.
“What has been described to me as disturbing, and not the type of incidents we want to see in our schools and so we’re going to do everything we can to get to the bottom of it”, he said.

The Philadelphia School District is working with Philadelphia Police and also conducting their own investigation on the incident. We reached out to the teacher by email for comment, but have not heard back.
