A person was struck and killed by an Amtrak train Monday morning, officials said.

The pedestrian was hit on the track at around 4:47 p.m. Monday in the 15100 block of Barnsville Road in Boyds.
Officers say DeReggi and two other teenagers were walking along the tracks, when, for unknown reasons, DeReggi went onto the tracks and into the path of the train.
The train stopped in the area of the accident.
Pete Piringer, spokesman for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue, tweeted that six bystanders were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
Westbound MARC service on the Brunswick Line was suspended because of the accident, but has resumed.

Amtrak spokeswoman Christina Leeds said the incident involving the Washington, D.C.-bound Acela train was reported at 7:23 a.m. No one aboard the Amtrak train, which was carrying more than 200 passengers, was injured.
