Teen suffers shark bite off South Carolina coast

Thursday, in the seaside South Carolina town of Murrells Inlet, a 15 year-old boy from Virginia was enjoying the water when he was attacked by a shark.

A total of eight people were bitten by sharks along the North Carolina coast.

When the teen tried to push the shark away, he was bitten on his hand.

He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries but was bleeding when paramedics arrived and was treated on the scene.

A 15-year-old was apparently bitten by bitten by a shark while swimming in Murrells Inlet Thursday, authorities confirmed.

Police say the teen was chest deep in the water when a small shark bit him on the leg. Two of the victims had limbs amputated.

A rash of the incidents came earlier in the summer, on the heels of reports of large sharks caught close to the beach.
