Teenage girl fatally stabbed in Chicago after fight

35-year-old Tamika Gayden and her 13-year-old daughter have been arrested and charged with murder following a stabbing that killed 15-year-old De’Kayla Dansberry in Chicago, Illinois.

“I killed her, I killed her”, a panicked 13-year-old girl cried out after using a knife her mother gave her to stab a 15-year-old girl to death in Chicago over the weekend, witnesses said.

Gayden’s daughter is charged as a juvenile and appeared in court Tuesday.

Police say the mother, 35-year-old Tamika Gayden, provided the knife.

Gayden, who lives in the Parkway Gardens complex where the fight took place, was also charged with one felony count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

It isn’t clear if either has an attorney to comment on their behalf. She was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital.

“I’m sure it was probably just children, like kid stuff”, he said.

The girl charged with the slaying wore a pink hoodie and left the apartment with a knife, the eyewitness told authorities.

The teenager was stabbed in the upper chest after a fight broke out Saturday evening. “A baby too. But the parent was supposed to (have) handed her the knife, so she’s locked up, too, and that’s good”.

At a memorial Sunday, friends described DeKayla as an outgoing, sociable athlete who ran the 200-meter dash at Johnson College Prep. Dansberry said her daughter often talked about running track at school and was planning for the state meet.

De’kayla was an honor student and standout in track and field. Afterwards, sheriff’s deputies had to separate Dansberry’s family from Gayden and her family after “some pushing” occurred between the two parties, the Tribune reports. ‘I miss my daughter.

Reiterated the dead girl’s father: ‘There’s too much insane madness going on, for real. “I just want justice for whoever did this to my daughter”, the victim’s father, Julian Glanton, told Fox 26 outside the court.

“I’m just lost for words”, Glanton added.

Gayden was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday and her daughter will be held until she appears again in June.
