Telangana engineer stabs parents, 20 pedestrians in sword attack
Karimnagar A 26-year-old “mentally depressed” software engineer on Tuesday went on a rampage here as he attacked people on the street with a sword and severely injured as many as six persons, including his parents and two policemen, before being fatally shot by police. He also attacked two police constables.

Officials said that Balvinder Singh, an electronics engineer, was upset after he failed to crack some civil service exams and was suffering from depression. Some policemen he attacked are now undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
The incident happened at around 7 am when Babloo of Laxmi Nagar locality in Karimnagar town, had a heated argument with his parents- Amruth Singh and Baby Kaur. “This morning, he attacked his parents with a sword”.
The police, who identified the youth as Balwinder Singh, said the techie, who was working for a software major in Bengaluru earning Rs1. The techie even snatched the revolver from Mallaiah and threatened to kill the latter.
Police also said, Balvinder ran out of his house wielding the sword and began randomly attacking passers-by and people on the road, leaving his parents lying unconscious in a pool of blood.

Circle Inspector Vijayasaradhi opened fire and overpowered Singh before shifting him to a hospital. He suffered injury on his armpit and heavy bleeding is said to have resulted in his death, according to police sources. Incoming reports say that an auto-rickshaw driver and a biker were injured in the attack as well. Others are recuperating in the hospital. In-charge DIG Malla Reddy visited the district headquarters hospital and interacted with injured persons.
