State Fair Manager Scott Jones, who has been involved with the event for almost 30 years, thinks there is strong support for government oversight.

Safety is a top priority for officials at the Kansas State Fair.
Thursday, Ride inspector Jonathan Brooks with Wagner Consulting Group was hard at work making sure rides were as safe as possible for families to be on.
As of Wednesday night, the company was re-investigating rides to complete the permit.
“We have to make sure all the pins, keys and clips are in place”, said Brooks.
A department spokesman says the Greene County incident has caused them to reconsider what exactly they should do with those funds.
This summer has seen several fair accidents with injuries across Tennessee. One of those children spent days in the hospital.
At the Greene County Fair in northeast Tennessee, three girls were injured after an apparent mechanical failure caused them to fall from a ferris wheel.
“I can’t tell you how excited we are to be involved with the Tennessee State Fair”, said Jarrett, who starred in WCW and WWE “I’ve been to the fair as a kid; I’ve brought my kids, and I’ve wrestled here literally hundreds of times”.
Earlier this week, eight people were taken to the hospital after a ride malfunction on the “Moonraker” rider in Memphis.
The rides are being put on by a company called Wade Shows. “I got asked earlier which one is the most unsafe, and there are no risky rides because if there were any unsafe rides we wouldn’t allow them to operate”. Organizers have worked the fair for the past seven years.

The fair opens Friday evening, and runs through Sunday, Sept. 18.
