Hart will retire on June 30, 2017, the school announced Friday.
Hart was hired by the Vols on September 5, 2011, and prior to that he held athletic administration roles at East Carolina, Florida State and Alabama. Our student athletes have the highest overall grade point average in the history of the program, exceeding a 3.0 and fundraising is having a record year. Tyndall was sacked after only one season because of the likelihood the NCAA would determine he had committed major violations during his Southern Mississippi tenure.
Eight unidentified women sued Tennessee in February and said the school created a “hostile sexual environment” through a policy of indifference toward assault and sexual assault complaints against athletes. Hart also oversaw the transition in women’s basketball from the legendary Pat Summitt to Holly Warlick.
Hart’s tenure featured a number of lawsuits. The two sides reached a $750,000 settlement in January, though the costs were over $1 million once attorneys’ fees were included.

Hart was previously the AD at East Carolina and Florida State. Mr. Hart said he does not have any specific plans beyond his focus on this coming academic year but does not envision becoming idle after that. “I” m excited about what this year could hold for us across the board”. There have been some issues in the athletic department over the past couple of years, for sure, and there are many stories of the wrong people being rubbed the wrong way.
