Mosley, 18, was stopped Wednesday at 1:51 a.m.by Tennessee Highway Patrol on Interstate 40 for allegedly traveling 79 miles per hour in a 55 miles per hour zone.

The arresting officer said he smelled marijuana when he approached the vehicle, but Mosley said he had not been smoking.

Mosley told officers he had not used marijuana but had just been with friends at Econo Lodge on Lovell Road and was heading back to campus.

Mosley took a field sobriety test and “performed poorly”, the arresting officer wrote, and the player was then taken into custody.

After searching the vehicle, deputies found marijuana residue in the front passenger area and back seat.

After missing the entire 2014 season with a broken tibia, Mosley worked out on both sides of the line during spring practice. He was released on bond at 9 a.m. and faces a July 29 court date.
