Tennessee Powerball winners plan to keep working

The Robinsons said one of their priorities is to pay their daughter’s student loans off and several other bills.

During the “Today” show segment, the family said they don’t plan to move, and revealed they had even gone to work on Thursday.

She told Begnaud she had a hunch who the winners could be.

He works in IT and she is employed at a Memphis dermatologist’s office.

John Robinson told Today Show hosts that he was on his way home from work Wednesday night when his wife, Lisa, called to ask if he was going to buy lottery tickets.

Before going public with their apparent winning ticket, the Robinsons said they had only told their son, daughter, two brothers and mother-in-law about what happened.

Lisa Robinson, 53, was the one to first realize they had a winning ticket on Wednesday night.

“Well I think the American public wants to hear from them”, Townsend said. She says her mother didn’t discover the prank until she came home from work, where she had celebrated with colleagues. His wife kept an eye on the televised drawing and leapt up when she realized one of the tickets matched.

John and Lisa Robinson are the newest millionaires in West Tennessee.

“I wrote the numbers down and I got to looking and I saw it and looked again”, she said.

“Now I’ll be nervous because everybody knows”, John said.

One reason there was skepticism of the family’s claim: The Robinsons said that they were headed directly to the lottery commission after appearing on the Today Show.

The Robinsons’ daughter, Tiffany, who lives nearby, is a recent college graduate in her 20s.

California lottery officials said the state’s victor has not come forward yet.

“I was running down the hallway screaming and crying”, Lisa Robinson recalled.

“Actually, (I was) a little scared because I didn’t know exactly what do to”, John said in an exclusive interview on TODAY Friday.

Rebecca Hargrove is the president of the Tennessee Lottery Corporation – which is responsible for operating the lottery in that state.

Two Powerball tickets sold in North Carolina are worth $2 million, three are worth $100,000 and 14 are worth $50,000, lottery officials say.
