Our sister station WBIR reports Jones confirmed Monday that Cam Sutton suffered a fractured ankle and will be out for an extended time and Quarte Sapp’s season is over because of an ACL injury. “There’s been no time frame in which he’ll return”, said Jones. Sutton, a senior, has started all 41 games in his career.
Star linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin and offensive tackle Chance Hall are expected to practice Monday and Jones said he “anticipates they’ll be ready to go” on Saturday.
“Everyone associated with the football program knows what’s at stake, but also it’s a long football season ahead”, coach Jones said. “If it happens, it is what it is”.
Sophomore safety Micah Abernathy added that he won’t change the way he plays to “try and not get injured”.
